After a trail work camp had been established at the first slide, the trail was extended in a rough-and-ready fashion for about 3 km more. A short distance above the camp two stringers were felled across the creek for a bridge, and the trail crossed to the southeast side. This bridge was never completed beyond this stage. At this writing (January 2003) one stringer remains and is nearly ready to collapse. Photo: August 1979.
